Benvenuto Missoni!

Known for generating affordable collaborations with top fashion designers, Target has finally topped itself by partnering with the Italian fashion house, Missoni! Since 1953, Missoni has received praise worldwide for its unique knitwear bolstering an eclectic mix of colors and textures.

As a devoted fan of Missoni’s signature zigzag print, I can’t help but be over the moon about the line’s 400-piece collection which includes apparel and accessories for women, men, girls, and baby, as well as home goods. Pieces will range from $2.99 to $599.99, most of which will be available for less than $40 (talk about looking Posh + Pennywise)!!  Target will unveil the collection at all stores and online on September 13th. The limited edition looks will be available through October 22nd or until supplies last, and after looking at the photos below may not be for very long so move fast fashionistas!

Pending availability of course, select pieces (including a variety of online-only items) will be available for an extended online run through early December.

Fake It Til You Make It: Mascara 101

By now you've mastered the art of Eyelash 101 , but say there's a morning you wake up feeling far from fabulous? What's a fashionista to do?  Don't throw in the towel just yet. No need for the falsies today because you have my new favorite product in hand for a quick fix of fab...
Admit it, like a good man, good mascara is hard to find. Too clumpy, not enough volume, wrong color…been there, done that, got the t-shirt (Actually it’s more like smudges on the roof of my car, woops!).
But not anymore, I'm officially in L-O-V-E with They're real! by Benefit. Finally, someone has created the ultimate product for lashes. Not only does They’re real! condition, curl, and  volumize but it also lasts 12 hours! Seriously! No creepy under eye smudges for my stylish readers. The jet black formula oozes with sex appeal and compliments all eye colors.
The not too short or too thick brush distributes the product evenly revealing lashes you never knew you had – no fear of overdoing it and looking like a drag queen with this one (shout out to my girls Jada Fox and Kelsi Glamour! XOXO)
This is hands down my new go to mascara. Keep reading for helpful tips from the beauty experts at Benefit:
v  To apply: Position wand horizontally & wiggle from side to side, base to tip, to achieve maximum volume, length & lift. Hold wand vertically & stroke upward to curl & separate. Layer generously as desired.
v  Want a big, doe-eyed look? Fan corner lashes outward with the custom-domed tip. The precision bristles make it easy!

Spot-On Fashion

Lucille Ball, Minnie Mouse, and….Stella McCartney?! What on earth could this trio of “women” possibly have in common? The answer is (drumroll please)….POLKA DOTS!  Retro by association, the polka dot hasn't exactly been at the height of fashion in the last ten, make that twenty, years. While the pattern is more commonly associated with iconic fare like the itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini, thanks to the creative minds at Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, and Lanvin, the print has emerged refreshed for Fall 2011.

Before you swan dive into the trend, be sure to find a pattern that compliments your shape and size.
Beware of oversized prints that will overwhelm your style – nobody wants to look like a human Twister board. For example, petite women should opt for small to medium polka dots. And one more helpful hint, stick to one dotted piece at a time!
From footwear to outerwear, and everything in between, the polka dot trend is spot-on for fall. Check out the looks below for a real word approach to the runway.

. Le Tuxedo .

Inspired by Helmut Lange’s iconic photograph, Le Smoking, the tuxedo jacket for women rose to fame in 2008.  A bold statement piece most commonly associated with male power players like Agent 007 (Bond, James Bond), the tuxedo jacket of “08 combined the ease of men’s fashion with sensual skinny cuts and sleek satin.  The women’s tuxedo is once again on the rise and all about putting a relaxed feminine twist on a male dominated staple…with a hint of glam!
Here are a few tips to help you create a look that makes 2008 look so 2000 and late:
·         Get a case of boogie fever! Take a hint form the 70s and go for jackets with wide peaked lapels. Who knew, 30 years later and the BeeGees are style icons!

·         Think outside the box, don’t just stick to the traditional black and white! Try a soft shade of rose, a delicate lace material, or BOTH for a ladylike style that can run with the big boys.

·         Looking for something a little more daring? Embellish, embellish, embellish! Stand out in sequins and stripes that scream glam rock!

Building Blocks of Color

Listen up ladies, that drab blue / black combo you rock everyday – you know the one, snoozefest black trousers, white cotton tank, and navy cardigan – well it’s a whole lotta boring! By winter’s end dark colors were on the downfall, and outrageous color combos reigned supreme for summer.
After a weekend of “research” on NYC’s fabulous 5th Avenue I’ve found that the bold color-blocking trend is staying strong as fall approaches.  Here are a few of my favorite pairings to kick off a new season of dress up…
Cinnamon & Camel: Try this duo for a stylish blend of spicy and sophisticated. This color palette is especially complimentary on warm skin tones.

Orange & Fuchsia: Citrus is already established as a wardrobe staple, but this is a great way to wear it if you’re intimidated by the sunny-side up.  The trick to making this vibrant trend work? Choose rich materials!

Cornflower & Oxblood: There’s nothing “blue” about this beautiful combo. A rich, luscious leather piece perfectly complements the femininity of cornflower blue.
